NPR's This I Believe

Something I enjoy each week is listening to the This I Believe segment on NPR. I usually find something new to consider in listening to the writer's essay. I've run my fingers quickly along the edge of the thought of writing an essay and submitting it myself, but I can't quite figure out what to write about.

The following essay "Strangers Bring Us Closer to Good" touched on many topics that resonated with me: religion, helping the mentally ill and food. Growing up in my house food equaled love. I have wonderful memories of waking up on Saturday mornings to the complex aromatic smells of Indian cooking, the sounds of rye seeds popping in oil, paranthas cooking, making fresh paneer, saag cooking over many hours, afternoon lassis, and mom's homemade kulfi.
